When Clear Channel made the decision to build a brand new production and post production facility for its five radio properties in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. market, it went for the very best, including the DN-C640 slot-in networked CD player from Denon Professional, the leader in digital recording and playback solutions for broadcast audio. Each new on-air studio will have three DN-C640 CD players, and additionally there will be two assigned to each production suite and three more in the performance studio. “Everything about the DN-C640 works well for radio broadcasting,” says Matt Howell, Director of Engineering for the stations and the facility. “The slot loading is incredibly convenient for on-air work, and the built-in AES and balanced audio outputs are a must in radio today. But I especially love RS-232 as a control protocol, and the DN-C640 has it as part of its feature set, so all of the players can be completely networked throughout the facility and operated remotely. It’s a great machine and it’s going to fit in well with a great new broadcast facility.”
